I first met Gloria Hopkins online in a nature photography forum. Her images of south Florida birds were breath taking. In addition to being a great photographer she is also a fabulous teacher. Her writings about composition helped me to see again. We have exchanged emails a few times about photographs, website design, flash, cameras, and other common interests. Though we have never met in person I gladly call her a friend.

I was surfing her website tonight and came across her oil paintings. This is the first time I have really paid attention to them. For some reason the Aspen Nights series struck a chord deep inside me. Perhaps it is my admiration of her craft enhanced by the personal interaction we have shared.
