Websites as Gifts
One of my clients wanted to give his dad a unique gift for his birthday. The dad is retired but is actively still consulting with his old company and is expanding his horizons. The son thought that the dad needed a website to help promote his new activites and to perhaps find new clients.
So I’m working up a 2-3 page resume site about the dad. Initially the dad did not think he needed a website, but the son convinced him otherwise. Many small business owners do not see the value of a website because they are focused very locally, do not think they will find clients via the web, or do not have clients that surf the web.
Local businesses can use a web site to distinguish themselves from the traditional yellow pages advertiser. The site can work in conjunction with other advertising services like the yellow pages, mail stuffers, and even word of mouth.
Building a site which will attract new clients requires some Search Engine Optimization, Marketing, and quality content which presells for you.
Don’t be fooled into thinking your customers do not have internet or don’t use it to find your business. People search the web at work, in restaurants, libraries, and other public places. The internet boom is far from over and is getting more prevalent amoung the poor and elderly.
So if know a small business that needs a website but isn’t likely to act on thier own, give them a nudge and offer one as a gift. I offer very reasonable rates for small business sites with just a few pages. You can contact me by email at eric@esearing.com.
