Oddcast has come out with a unique product for your website; SitePal - Talking animated characters. You can add a voice recording or use thier text-to-speech function and let your website talk to your customers. You can select from a wide variety of male and female characters, preprogrammed voices, add your own voice or voice talent, and select how they are displayed on the page. Once you have selected your character(s) you can merely cut and past the scripts into your HTML pages.

A recent article in sitepronews claims “Adding audio marketing to your order page could catapult your sales by 437%.” Even if it only doubled sales it would be worth the minimal investment.

I installed one for one of my maintenance customers, faxsolutions.us.
They are using four different messages througout the site. I am also adding sitePal to biz-story.com.

Account setup was easy enough, and we figured out the character creation interface fairly quickly. Text to speech is interesting in how the characters say certain words. If you want it to say “yourURL.com” you have to type “your U R L dot com”. Other words like “Agents” seem to be mis-pronounced like “I-gens”. You can overcome these issues by using voice recordings. The character will follow the sounds. You get more characters and more options the more you spend but the silver level has a nice assortment of features. You can control the backgrounds and skin the player for a custom look for your site.
