Picture #3 Smith Plantation Roswell GA
P55, ISO50, f 11, 1/8sec, 180mm lens

After viewing the results of the second pictue we decided to change the swings, tilt, and rise of the front standard (lens plane) and a little tilt and swing of the back standard (film plane). The movements did change the Depth of field and image sharpness at the edges, but we did not compensate for this by using a smaller f-stop.

We then took another meter reading. Based on our success with the previous exposure we stayed with a slight under exposure below what the meter indicated. The sun had risen a little more so this exposure was a tad brighter than the previous.

Al then loaded the holder and film and made the exposure. The exposure was correct, the convergence was gone, the clipped windows were now more approprate. The image was much softer at the edges due to the movements applied changing the shape of the image on the ground glass. Al liked the soft edges however so we did not try to correct it. The center rocking chair and door were sharp. Overall we considered the image a sucess and learned a great deal along the way.

Notes about P55:
Between shots we were clearing the negatives in the sodium sulfite solution and coating the prints using the coater strips supplied with the film. There is much paper waste with P55 so trash bags are needed on site. You also need a way to store the negatives and prints while they dry. Photographer Craig Tanner suggests using paper towels between negatives kept in solution while in the field. I have since devised a clothes pin hanging system which can hang between tripod legs while the prints dry.
